Inauguration of the Kigali Public Library

On Friday, October 5, 2012, Dr. Zachary D. Kaufman, editor of Social Entrepreneurship in the Age of Atrocities, and his colleagues in the Rotary Club of Kigali-Virunga (RCKV) (of which he is an Honorary Member) and the American Friends of the Kigali Public Library (of which he is the founder, president, and Chairman of the Board of Directors), inaugurated the Kigali Public Library (KPL), Rwanda’s first public library.  At the ceremony, Dr. Kaufman spoke alongside:

  • Jeannette Kagame, the First Lady of Rwanda
  • Portais Mitali, Minister of Youth, Sports, and Culture, Government of Rwanda
  • Gitau Wamukui, President, RCKV
  • Cally Alles, Founding President, RCKV

The KPL is one of eight social enterprises profiled in Social Entrepreneurship in the Age of Atrocities.  The KPL is also one of the beneficiaries of the book’s profits.
