On Tuesday, September 12, 2012, Dr. Zachary D. Kaufman, editor of Social Entrepreneurship in the Age of Atrocities, delivered a presentation on “Marshall Scholars’ Public Service Projects” (MSPSPs) to the 2012 Marshall Scholars. The event was hosted at the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Washington, DC. Dr. Kaufman is a Marshall Scholar.
Dr. Kaufman‘s class of Marshall Scholars established Marshall Scholars for the Kigali Public Library (MSKPL), what is known as the first class project by Marshall Scholars. MSKPL fundraised for and raised public awareness about the campaign to build the Kigali Public Library, one of eight social enterprises profiled in Social Entrepreneurship in the Age of Atrocities.
Subsequent classes of Marshall Scholars undertook class projects. The Association of Marshall Scholars asked Dr. Kaufman to compile a handbook on MSPSPs, which the AMS published on its website as a resource for Marshall Scholars and others.
